I have a JRSC on a 97 Civic EX. The SC doesn't touch the firewall. It's more of a intermittent chatter. It sounds like scraping and churning, but goes away after 1.2k I suspect worn gears, but I'm not sure. Ive heard similar sounds from a different car with a JRSC, but mine is noticably louder. Does anybody know the warranty time after having a SC rebuilt by Magnuson? I bought the kit used so I have no warranty to begin with, but would like to know if I get one afterwords...
Thanks,
Jim

My SC on my GSR has had that sound for the entire 57,000+ miles it's been on with the last third of it's life at 10psi, and I bought mine used as well. The only problem I've seen is that the nuts on the short crossbar of the upper tensioner mount bracket (right next to the alternator) came loose and the bracket began vibrating and ringing --replaced those and it's been easy street since then...

I bought a used JRSC and did the install a few days ago. It's up and running, but the SC chatters loudly at idle. The noise goes away above 1.2k. Should I be concerned about this? When I had the blower off, I was able to rotate the pulley left and right a bit before it engaged.
I was going to get it rebuilt in a month or so, has anyone gotten their SC rebuilt by Superchargersonline.com? They offer an S-Port for $300 (is that the similar to the Endyne Mod?)
Thanks,
Jim

I would recommend magnusson do the rebuild. as far as the play in the charger goes. in the nose drive of the unit there are 2 pieces with 3 pins that go into a drive coupler. there is a chance the coupler is worn and causing the chatter. If it is really loud I would get it fixed asap. Mine is absolutely silent at idle

Could this chatter be the relay vibarting against the firewall?
I get a chatter at idle, but it isnt the blower, but a vibration due to the blower movement.

I bought mine new in 1999 and it made similar noises from day 1. Today, some 50K miles later, it still does.

I uninstalled the blower yesterday, and I inspected the rotors. They look OK, some scratches mostly on the inlet side. Magnuson also told me to inspect the oil through the inspection plug. I did, and I had to stick a piece of paper pretty far down to get oil. Isn't it supposed to be filled up to the top of the plug? I've heard that it takes forever to get stuff back from Magnuson. Does anyone have any experience with superchargersonline.com? (pse.us)?
